Alpha Rho Eta Hard At Work And Play!

The Alpha Rho Eta chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at Kishwaukee College made a donation to the DeKalb County Community Foundation’s (DCCF) Community Works Initiative. Dan Templin, Executive Director of DCCF, visited campus to receive the donation from the Alpha Rho Eta members during the group’s regular meeting on September 28.
The DCCF Community Works Initiative was established to provide grant dollars for local programs in the areas of childcare, land use, and workforce development. Through September 30, DCCF Community Works had a unique opportunity, courtesy of the Grand Victoria Foundation: the Grand Victoria Foundation would match dollar-for-dollar all contributions made to the Community Works campaign, up to $2 million.
Being aware of the Grand Victoria Foundation offer, the Alpha Rho Eta chapter decided to make a contribution before the September 30 deadline, to take advantage of doubling their donation. The chapter holds a variety of fund-raisers during the year, carefully selecting how to put the money to the best use. The DCCF has a well-established record of assisting people and programs in DeKalb County and, being able to double their contribution to a solid organization like DCCF, made the Alpha Rho Eta chapter members easily decide to donate to the organization.
The group raised $300, which in effect was a $600 donation to DCCF. Templin thanked the group and explained the mission of DCCF to the group, including the Community Works Initiative.
